Behind the Scenes: Chaos, Coffee, and Creating Magic on Our First Fashion Shoot

The air crackled with a nervous energy. Coffee was brewing, music was pumping, and a whirlwind of activity was taking over our small studio. It was our first-ever fashion shoot for our little independent brand, and let me tell you, it was a wild ride!

We'd spent weeks meticulously planning this moment. Sourcing the perfect location, selecting the stunning pieces from our debut collection, and assembling a dream team of creatives – the Photographer, the Stylist, (who is also my Designer but doubling up for the day), the Makeup Artist, the Art Director. We envisioned a sleek, sophisticated shoot that would capture the essence of our brand: timeless elegance with a modern twist.

But as with any ambitious project, things didn't always go according to plan.

There were moments of sheer panic: the missing props, the last-minute outfit swaps, an emergency stand in due to illness.  There were moments of pure joy:  witnessing out gorgeous model effortlessly bring our designs to life, and watching the photographer capture pure magic through the lens.

The energy on set was contagious. Laughter mingled with focused concentration. We learned to roll with the punches, to embrace the unexpected, such as the frequent power outages and to celebrate every small victory.

And then, as the day drew to a close, we stepped back and admired the results. The images were stunning, They captured the spirit of our brand perfectly – confident, sophisticated, and effortlessly chic. It was a moment of immense pride. I will admit, there were tears from me. It was a huge day, with everything riding on it. It had always been my dream to do this.

This first shoot was more than just a photoshoot; it was a testament to the power of collaboration and friendship, the importance of embracing the unexpected, and the thrill of bringing a dream to life. At 50+ I completely changed my direction from the comfort of corporate life to the thrill and challenge of the independent ride. A new career just beginning.
